Hello! I'm Michelle ...
… a professional organizer with a background in social work and community service. I’ve dedicated 20 years to advocating for the well-being of NYC’s most vulnerable children and families, working to create safe and nurturing environments. My life’s mission has always been to foster change and make a positive impact on the lives of others. Now, as a professional organizer, I’m continuing that mission.
As a social worker, home visits were essential. I came to understand that a person’s living environment was a physical representation of what they were experiencing emotionally. I consistently observed my clients struggle with a disorganized living space that added unnecessary stress to an already challenging situation. I realized that the principles I applied to address chaotic family dynamics could be extended to anyone wanting to improve their living environment. It was this realization that inspired me to embark on a career change that would combine my innate organizational skills with my passion for helping people. Today I help people regain control of their surroundings and, by extension, their lives.
I firmly believe that an organized space can lead to an organized mind. The sense of relief and empowerment that comes from a well-organized space is truly transformative, and I’m committed to making this transformation accessible to everyone. I understand that decluttering and organizing are not just about tidying up physical spaces but also about promoting mental and emotional well-being. I approach every project with compassion, sensitivity, and a commitment to understanding my clients’ specific needs and goals.
Code of Ethics I Stand By In Compliance with NAPO and ICD
Working Relationships
- I will serve my clients with integrity, competence, and objectivity, and will treat them with respect and courtesy.
- I commit to possessing and acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills, and training to be proficient and relevant in addressing client needs.
- I will only offer professional services in those areas in which I am qualified, and I will accurately represent those qualifications in all verbal and written communications.
- When unable or unqualified to fulfill requests for services, I will make every effort to recommend the services of other qualified professional organizers, productivity consultants and/or other qualified professionals.
Confidentiality
- I will keep confidential all client information, both business and personal, including that which may be revealed by other professional organizers and productivity consultants.
- I will respect client confidentiality, including all client records unless otherwise authorized by the client, or as required by law.
- I will use proprietary client information, like photos and testimonials, only with the client’s permission.
Conflicts of Interest
- I will seek to avoid conflicts between my interests and the interests of my clients.
- I will discuss with my client how to resolve any potential or actual conflict of interest in a way that best serves my client.
- I will not allow compensation from third parties to dictate my recommendations of goods or services to my clients.
Business Practices
- I will respect and not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.
- I will conduct and market my professional work in a legal and ethical manner and will not engage in deceptive acts or practices.
- I will advertise my services in an honest manner and will represent the organizing and productivity profession accurately.
- I will communicate my expense structure to my clients prior to starting work.
- I will decide independently and communicate to my client in advance my fees and expenses, and will charge fees and expenses which I deem reasonable, legitimate, and commensurate with my experience, the services I deliver, and the responsibility I accept.
- Any and all fees associated with services will be provided upfront and never hidden.
- For any change in fee structure, a 60-day notice will be provided to existing clients and only effective towards new projects not within original agreement.
- I will make recommendations for products and services with my client’s best interests in mind.
